The rain was falling, the crowd was engaged, both teams had their best players fit and on the field, and Gianni Infantino didn’t show. It was tough to imagine a better scene for the first leg of the Concacaf Champions League final than the one we got in the historic CU on Wednesday night.

Pumas led 2-0 in the 49th minute thanks to a pair of goals from Juan Ignacio Dinenno, but the Sounders worked their way back.

A Raul Ruidiaz chance just after the second Pumas goal somehow was saved by Pumas goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera, but a pair of penalties converted by Nico Lodeiro means the series heads into Wednesday’s second leg locked at 2-2.
