🐐 Can Chicharito live up to Chivas fans' expectations?

On Friday night more than 30,000 people went to the stadium to see Chivas. One night later, there were 20,000 more people wanting to see one Chivas player in particular.
Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez’s return to Guadalajara was the hottest ticket of the weekend, selling out the Estadio Akron. Fellow Chivas legends were present to welcome the forward, who left Chivas as a 22-year-old to join Manchester United and went on to have one of the best-ever careers for a Mexican abroad, becoming the Mexico national team’s all-time leading scorer along the way.
It’s a beautiful and romantic story, a beloved son returning home while he still has something to offer his childhood team on the field. Perhaps nowhere more than in Guadalajara, where Chivas still fields only Mexicans, having the best product ever to come out of its academy return for the final stop of his career will resonate. Beyond what he can do on the field, the marketing opportunities and the contact he’ll have with the club’s current academy hopefuls both make the move financially sound.
In the stadium on Saturday, you saw that people were … just happy. Why not? The hero is home.
