🐯 Good for Tigres, bad for Mexico
Antuna makes his debut in a big win. PLUS: Cruz Azul parties + the Conca-catch-up!
As a downpour continued to drench Mexico City, making even the heartiest of fans at the CU question their decision - or at least the quality of their plastic poncho - Ozziel Herrera added his second goal of the night and the third for Tigres.
It was a convincing victory over Pumas. Even on a night when Pumas played a decent game, they couldn’t deal with the Tigres attack.
Tigres did not look like a team in need of another attacking option.
Andre-Pierre Gignac can still spearhead an attack better than any player in Liga MX. Herrera had a double opposite fellow Mexican promise Diego Lainez with Juan Brunetta - the reigning Liga MX player of the tournament - between them. Tigres’ other goal came on a long-distance stunner from two-way midfielder Fernando Gorriaran
Yet another attacking option is what Tigres now has after acquiring Uriel Antuna from Cruz Azul during the week.
“Antuna is another player, another addition to our squad who shows the level we need to get to the championship,” Tigres manager Veljko Paunović said after the victory.
