I agree this is the ideal, but even the NWSL (with Orlando not even going) and MLS (FCD and Nashville being booted) you see some of the potential issues.
With the international game, it's unlikely there's time for a 'bubble' to be formed, since players still have commitments to their clubs, with whom they make most of their incomes.
Good article John! I think the new format is the most fair way to do it honestly. Do we know anything about the draw? Will it be seeded or just random past the first seeds? You are right about the danger teams outside the 6, if two of them end up in the same group it'll be a bloodbath
the day that concacaf makes uefa type draws: and everyone participates without byes. Then it will be a decent confederation

Thanks, David! The draw is set for August 14, and my understanding is it will be random save for those seeded teams.
